60. This paper sets out the action which
the Government intends to take to prevent electoral abuse, to
counter the efforts of those intent upon defrauding the poll and
to protect the fundamental right of free and fair elections. Together
with the Electoral Office and the political parties in Northern
Ireland, the Government is determined to stamp out electoral malpractice
and protect the practice of democracy.
