Rural Scotland People, Prosperity and Partnership

Our Housing Policy

The Government's overall aim is that a decent home should be within reach of every family in Scotland - whether they live in a rural or urban area. We have four strategic objectives in place to achieve that aim, these are:

  • to promote greater housing choice

  • to assist and enable provision of an adequate supply of housing

  • to promote improvement in housing quality

  • to seek more effective use of resources.
