Indicative Forestry Strategies

• We offered guidance to Regional and Island Councils in 1990 on the preparation of Indicative Forestry Strategies which sought to encourage the expansion of forestry in a manner which respected the environment. Strategies identified the main areas of opportunity for new planting and areas where there might be constraints to planting and provided a framework for consultation.

• We will review the Indicative Forestry Strategies produced under the 1990 guidance with a view to increasing their usefulness.
