Our Strategy for Salmon

Scotland's wild salmon fisheries are renowned internationally and make an important contribution to Scotland's economy and to the natural heritage. A great deal of knowledge and advice on our salmon and sea trout fisheries is available. In recognition of the importance of these fisheries we have set up an eminent task force to develop, over the next year, a comprehensive strategy for the management of our salmon stocks which will take us into the next century.

We will also publish in the spring of 1996 general guidance on fish farming and the environment in order to ensure that the impact of present and future development on the natural heritage is appropriately managed.
